As I mentioned before, one of my pieces is being featured in an art show here in New York. As promised, here are some photos from the event. Actually, I had already posted them in another write-up but for some reason, WordPress lost them all so I’m just going to post a link to the slideshow here and update the page later. If you’re not able to see it, please let me know.
Anyway, the show turned out to be really great. When I got there thirty minutes into the program, there were quite a few people mingling around. The first thing I did was look for where my baby was and I found it on a wall that was on the other side of the main display near the entrance. The director of the program explained to me that it was put there because she was impressed with it and wanted it to be visible from the street so people would see it and would want to come inside. Later on, people told me that I had a great spot so I was pretty flattered!
One of the great things about being a part of the show, was not only did I get to see artwork by other talented artists, but I also got some really great feedback about my own piece which was a real confidence booster, considering it’s coming from people that have been doing this for a while and know what they’re talking about. Apparently, a lot of them were impressed because watercolor is such a temperamental medium to work in so for to be able to do it on a large canvas is a pretty good sign that I have picked up some skills.
Aside from getting the feedback from them, I met this woman who was married to one of the other featured artists and she gave a glowing critique of my work that was so detailed that I was speechless. She was pulling out symbolism that hadn’t even occurred to me, so a lot of times, I was just like, “Riiiight!” I’ll have to track her down and hire her as one of my publicists!
What was also pretty awesome was having my friends show up to support me. Not only did my coworkers come by but I also met up with friends that I hadn’t seen for a while. Someone whom I had never even met before that I only new from an online networking group showed, so that was also pretty special.
I concluded the night by heading out to Grimaldi’s with my friends and grabbing some delicious pizza. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate myself. There’s nothing like art and good food to end the week.

You’re so cool…will you marry…
